Easy pleated baby top pattern

Of late I’ve been busy with other projects and not really had much time to implement all my sewing ideas. I am catching up though. The Lemonade Sundress pattern is sized up to age 3 years and nearly ready for the shop. As the weather is just starting to turn a bit autumnal here, I decided to run up a pinafore dress using the Lemonade Sundress pattern. I just made the dress up the same but using a heavier fabric (I love the blue striped needle cord that I picked – it looks really smart) for cooler weather. It was screaming out for an under-top and so the Easy Pleated Baby Top was commissioned! It turned out lovely. So nice in fact that I decided it was too lovely just to hide under a pinny and I made another one up out of patterned fabric. This pattern is very simple to make up and because it is pleated and gathered on the neck and hemline, you can hide any blips in the sewing (not that I had any lol!).

Left: The easy pleated baby top worn underneath the pinafore made from the lemonade sundress pattern (soon to be available for purchase here). This makes a lovely outfit for the cooler weather, Ellie has already received complements on our recent supermarket run!! Apparently she is a very well dressed baby (if only they knew how cheap and easy her clothes are to make – I guess this is a win for mummy, whoop!).

Right: The easy pleated baby top made up in a patterned fabric and worn with trousers (I’ve sized this pattern up to 3 years and it will be soon available for free download here).
